EL & IC Response #1
At this point in the book, I feel bad for Oskar. It's obvious that he has been through a lot, and he doesn't know how to deal with it. After the death of his father, thing start to give him "heavy boots." These things are usually things that remind him of his father or just make him sad in general. Personally I do sympathize with him. When he has "heavy boots," I can understand what he's saying because I have felt the same way before. One specific moment in this story that really gave me "heavy boots" was when Oskar explained how he wanted his father to be someone famous so Mr. Black would write a card about him. "Just an ordinary dad. But i wished so much, then, that he had been great." (159)
